    1, single value measuring tool
A measuring tool that can only embody a single value. Can be used to check and adjust other measuring instruments or as a standard quantity to be measured directly compared, such as measuring blocks, Angle measuring blocks, etc.
    2, multi-value measuring tool
A measuring tool capable of representing a set of similar values. It can also be calibrated and adjusted with other measuring instruments or compared directly with the measurement as a standard quantity, such as a line gauge.
    3, special measuring tools
A measuring tool designed to test a particular parameter. Common ones are: smooth limit gauges for testing smooth cylindrical holes or shafts, thread gauges for judging the conformity of internal or external threads, inspection templates for judging the conformity of surface profiles of complex shapes, functional gauges for testing assembly accuracy with simulated assembly passability, and so on.
    4Universal measuring tools

In our country, the measuring instrument with relatively simple structure is called universal measuring tool. Such as vernier caliper, outside micrometer, dial indicator, etc.
